A Tribute To Mothers – Final South Texas Youth Symphony Concert of the Season

Thursday, April 23, 2014, McAllen — The Valley Symphony Orchestra would like to invite all the wonderful, hard-working, beautiful mothers of the RGV to the final South Texas Youth Symphony Concert of the season – A TRIBUTE TO MOTHERS CONCERT will be held at the Edinburg City Auditorium located on 415 W McIntyre St (just West of Hidalgo County Courthouse and North of University Drive) on Sunday, May 11 at 4:00 p.m.  Doors open at 3:30 p.m.  Guests who arrive early will partake in complimentary brownie bites, gourmet cookies, coffee, tea and lemonade courtesy of Corner Bakery.  Also, for the first 100 MOMS, Edible Arrangements will give a complimentary box of chocolate-covered fruit to be redeemed two weeks after the concert as a special thank you gift on Mother’s Day.

The concert will feature the 45+  member student orchestra and a solo from Carter Mink, double bass artist and Concert Master Achievement Award winner.  Be amazed as they play The Moldau by Bedrich Smetana, Bass Concerto No. 2 in A Minor by Giovanni Bottesini, Danzon No. 2 by Arturo Marquez and Symphony No. 4 in F Minor, Op. 36 – Finale: Allegro con fuoco by Peter Tchaikovsky.

You cannot escape the sheer brilliance, energy and beauty of this concert.  The students have worked so hard all semester long under the direction of Youth Symphony Conductor, Lucas Darger.  Darger is not only the Principal Second Violin in the Valley Symphony Orchestra -- he is also the Orchestra Director at Harlingen High School South.  He’s extremely passionate about his student’s learning and their role in helping prepare students for academic, musical and personal success.
